During the 2 days (13 and 14.); the working delegation of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee led by Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee of Kien Giang province - visited, inspected, surveyed and worked with the authorities, army and people in the communes of An Son, Lai Son, Nam Du, Hon Tre (Kien Hai district).
The working group of the Provincial Party Committee inspected the situation, surveyed the situation of works, projects, and relic sites, visited people's lives and worked with armed forces stationed in 4 communes of Kien Hai district.
Speaking at the working session with the Party Committee and armed forces stationed in the communes, Kien Giang Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Tien Hai acknowledged and highly appreciated the results that the communes have achieved in the past time.
The island communes have made great progress in life, especially the income of the people. Security and order are maintained, the work of building the Party and the political system has been strengthened. Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee Secretary highly appreciated the role of border units that have been actively in the coordination of propaganda to prevent and combat IUU exploitation. Doing well the work of hunger eradication, poverty reduction, new rural construction and firmly defending the sovereignty of the islands in charge of the islands.
The Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee also pointed out many difficulties such as inconvenient transportation, lack of fresh water in the dry season, and the two communes of Nam Du and An Son do not have national grid electricity. Due to geographical location, residential land and production land for people are still limited. To develop quickly and sustainably, there needs to be synchronous investment in infrastructure planning, human resources and raising people's awareness in developing a clean and environment economy.
Regarding development orientation, according to the Central Government's policy, Kien Giang province is developing a project to establish 3 special zones: Phu Quoc, Tho Chau and Kien Hai. Therefore, localities need to review and adjust socio-economic development planning in accordance with the special orientation, calculate management methods, arrange staff, and build internal solidarity.
The Secretary of the Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee directed to promote the development of clean power sources such as solar power to meet the needs of electricity for daily life and production. Regarding the country of origin, it is necessary to survey and propose appropriate water storage projects to meet the needs of people and tourism.
He requested more effective coordination between armed forces in the area, to make an important contribution to protecting the sovereignty of seas and islands and creating a stable foundation for development. Local authorities need to coordinate with the Police, Military, and Border Guard to strictly manage, protect forests, and prevent illegal construction.
Mr. Hai emphasized: "It is necessary to maintain environmental hygiene, not to discharge waste into the sea, and not to encroach on seafood ecological areas. Areas within the marine conservation planning must be strictly managed. At the same time, island communes must calculate and invest in appropriate household waste treatment systems, instruct people on waste classification and promote the use of green means of transportation".
The Provincial Party Secretary also noted the need to prevent fishing vessels from encroaching on foreign waters, request Border Guard stations and local authorities to increase propaganda, commit to each vessel owner, strictly handle violations and strictly install voyage monitoring equipment according to regulations. Strengthen grasp of the situation in the area, thoroughly handle disputes at sea, especially the capture of fishing grounds. The authorities need to investigate and handle the case promptly, ensuring long-term stability.
The working group also surveyed some seaport locations, grasped the population situation and will have a working session to make preliminary conclusions about the working trip. Accordingly, there will be further orientations and directions to develop the economy, ensure security and defense in the surveyed areas.
