Thanks to the surveillance camera system at "hot spots" for waste, Tan An Ward People's Committee (Can Tho City) has detected many cases of illegal garbage dumping, promptly handled and deterred violations, contributing to raising people's environmental protection awareness.
Many images recording motorbikes and trucks carrying bulky garbage secretly dumped on vacant land, along the road and in the area near Thoi Nhut 2 landfill have been recorded by functional forces for handling.

On January 3, Tan An Ward People's Committee said that the locality had handled 8 environmental violations with a total fine of more than 12 million VND. Among them, 4 cases were related to dumping domestic waste in the wrong places; the remaining 4 cases were discharging wastewater and used cooking oil into the domestic drainage system. All violations have complied with the fine.
Vice Chairman of Tan An Ward People's Committee Nguyen Thai Bao said that from January 1, 2026, garbage from An Binh ward will be treated right in the locality, while garbage from Ninh Kieu ward will be transported directly by sealed truck to the treatment plant, without transshipment through Thoi Nhut 2 (Tan An ward), reducing pressure on residents.

According to the Vice Chairman of Tan An Ward People's Committee, the locality will deploy the identification of licensed garbage collection vehicles, requiring collection vehicles not to let garbage and leachate spill into the environment.
In the long term, from April 1, 2026, the ward will organize a 3-year waste collection service bidding, requiring vehicles with closed lids, waste leachate collection equipment and transportation directly to the treatment plant, in order to protect the environment and improve the quality of life for people.
