On March 7, in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, the Command (BTL) of Coast Guard Region 4 held a Conference to summarize the Peak Round of the fight against crime prevention and control; drug prevention and control; prevention and combat of human trafficking; combating smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods before, during and after the Lunar New Year 2025 (Pikes period).
During the peak period, the Party Committee, the Command of the Region and the Party Committee, commands agencies and units to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the directives and plans of superiors, focus on leadership and direction, resolutely and effectively implement professional measures, complete and exceed the set targets ( handling of normal administrative violations exceeds 136.7%; cases with goods exceeding 200%...); ensure absolute safety in all aspects.
Notably: 82 cases/86 ships have been inspected and handled; 76 cases/78 ships have been administratively sanctioned, and more than 400 million VND has been collected for the State budget. Arrested, investigated, verified and handed over to the police of Ca Mau and Kien Giang provinces 6/8 ships with signs of illegal goods transportation across the border and the crime of obstructing or disrupting the operation of computers, telecommunications networks, electronic means with evidence of about 180 tons of seafood, worth nearly 6 billion VND.
Arrested, received and handled 13 cases/14 ships transporting nearly 1.2 million liters of DO oil, more than 230 tons of Ure Pham fertilizer, 30 tons of sugar with a total value of more than 21 billion VND. Directly arrested and prosecuted 5 out of 5 subjects for illegal drug trafficking, possession and transportation.
In particular, during the Peak period, on November 4, 2024, the authorities of the Coast Guard Region 4 Command arrested and handled a ship illegally transporting nearly 700,000 liters of DO oil, for sale to the State budget of nearly 10.5 billion VND. This is the case with the largest quantity and value of goods in recent years that has been arrested and handled by authorities at sea.
Concluding the Conference, Major General Tran Van Luong - Commander of Coast Guard Region 4 praised and acknowledged the officers and soldiers of the entire Region, especially the legal profession, for their high sense of responsibility, determination, overcoming difficulties, resolutely fighting against all types of crimes and law violations, completing assigned tasks well, achieving and exceeding the targets set in the Peak Round.
In the coming time, the Commander of the Region requested agencies and units in the whole Region to: Strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and drug crimes in the assigned waters, fight against Vietnamese fishing vessels violating foreign waters to illegally exploit seafood. Continue to promote a mechanism of publicity and transparency in handling cases; combine the fight against crime and law violations with the task of protecting sovereignty, "accompanying" and helping fishermen go offshore to work and develop the economy. Closely coordinate with relevant agencies and forces in the area in the process of performing tasks...
The achievements and feats have contributed to maintaining security and order in the assigned sea area; affirming the core role of the Coast Guard in enforcing the law at sea.
