On May 15, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Van Phu Ward Police had inspected, discovered and seized many tools used to hunt forest birds illegally in the area.

Previously, through grasping the situation and receiving feedback from people about the appearance of a number of subjects using nets, loudspeakers to broadcast birdsong and various types of traps to hunt wild birds in the areas of Trung Nghiem, Dong Tien, Dong Van residential groups... Through inspection, functional forces discovered and seized 5 sets of bird trap tools, 2 battery speakers, about 100m of nets and many types of trap cages. All exhibits have been recorded and handled according to the provisions of law.

According to functional agencies, the situation of hunting wild birds with nets and sound-emitting devices has recently still appeared in some suburban areas, vacant lots and fields.

Subjects often take advantage of early morning or late afternoon to set nets and traps to catch wild birds for sale or consumption.

Illegal wild bird hunting not only violates legal regulations but also has a negative impact on the ecological environment, reducing the number of natural bird species and disrupting the biodiversity balance in the area.

Functional forces recommend that people not participate in hunting, buying, selling, transporting, storing or consuming wild birds and wild animals illegally in any form. When detecting violations, people need to promptly notify functional agencies for handling.

According to current regulations, illegal wildlife hunting can be administratively fined up to 400 million VND for individuals.

In case of hunting for endangered, precious, and rare species on the protected list or with large value of exhibits, violators may be prosecuted for criminal liability under Article 234 and Article 244 of the Penal Code, with a prison sentence of up to 15 years.
