Lao Cai - 2 foreign tourists who got lost in the highlands due to following Google Maps were promptly supported by Chieng Ken Commune Police.

On May 9, information from Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Chieng Ken Commune Police promptly supported 2 foreign citizens who got lost in the Khe Tao village area, helping tourists stabilize their psychology and continue their journey safely.

Previously, at about 5:30 pm on May 8, Chieng Ken Commune Police received a report from comrade Trieu Toan Nhat - Head of the Security and Order Team of Khe Tao village - about 2 foreigners appearing in the area in a state of disorientation, needing support.

Immediately after receiving the information, Chieng Ken Commune Police quickly sent forces to the scene to verify the incident. Captain Nguyen Duc Tung directly approached, supported and took the 2 tourists to a safe place.

Through exchange, functional forces identified 2 citizens with British nationality, DYLAN FRANCIS WHITAKER and KATIE JAYNE, who were on a mountain bike journey from Chau Que commune to Van Ban commune.

However, due to being too dependent on the Google Maps application, both mistakenly went onto the inter-village road Khe Tao - Khe Na belonging to Chieng Ken commune. The terrain of the mountainous area is dangerous, many small road sections, few people passing by, and language barriers made it impossible for the 2 tourists to determine their direction, and they had to walk into people's houses to seek help.

After approaching, the commune police force took the 2 tourists to the headquarters in the Nam Tha area to verify information, and at the same time arranged accommodation, food support and encouragement after many hours of moving in the mountainous forest area.

In addition to supporting safety assurance, Chieng Ken Commune Police officers also guided the appropriate route, providing necessary information for the 2 tourists to continue their journey more conveniently in the following days.

The incident shows the spirit of responsibility, proactiveness and dedication of the grassroots police force in supporting people and tourists when facing difficulties.

The friendly and responsible image of the local police force also contributes to creating a beautiful impression of a safe and hospitable Lao Cai for international friends.
