Immediately after switching to the two-level government model, Long Bien Ward Police proactively reviewed and approached each residential area and household to grasp information and mobilize cases with signs of illegal storage of homemade weapons, air guns, and firecrackers to voluntarily hand over.
On the afternoon of July 26, a young man in the area volunteered to go to the Cultural House of Residential Group No. 32, Long Bien Ward to hand over a gun about 80cm long, made of metal, with full parts and the ability to operate.
Due to limited awareness, not fully predicting legal consequences as well as risks of social insecurity, this person bought a gun more than a year ago through social networks to... "shoot birds for entertainment".
Through the mobilization and propaganda process of the ward police force, combined with the active coordination of the residential group, the young man clearly understood the provisions of the law and proactively handed over weapons.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Manh Ha - Head of Long Bien Ward Police, air guns are a type of weapon that can cause great damage if used for the wrong purpose. There have been many heartbreaking incidents that have occurred just because of the "playing game" of the people without knowledge. Therefore, the unit always pays special attention to the work of mobilizing the recovery of weapons - especially disguised weapons such as air guns and homemade guns.
Currently, the air gun has been received, sealed and handled by Long Bien Ward Police according to the provisions of law.
The voluntary surrender of weapons by the people not only contributes to preventing the risk of disorder and insecurity, but also demonstrates a sense of responsibility as a citizen in maintaining the peace of the community - Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Manh Ha emphasized.
