On August 27, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that Phuc Khanh Commune Police had just prevented 8 students from voluntarily swimming and practicing swimming in a stream area at risk of drowning.
Previously, on August 26, 2026, Phuc Khanh Commune Police organized patrols in river, stream, pond, and lake areas in the area. The activity aims to proactively prevent drowning accidents, especially during the summer school holiday.
During patrols in the Cau 75 stream area, belonging to Long Khanh village, Phuc Khanh commune, the police force discovered 8 students inviting each other to swim and practice swimming.
The children voluntarily went down to a deep water area, posing a risk of drowning accidents. Immediately after that, the commune police requested the children to go ashore and leave the dangerous area.
The police force also reminds and propagates about the dangers of arbitrarily swimming and practicing swimming at rivers and streams. Children are warned not to swim in places with strong currents, deep water levels or without adult supervision.
After that, 8 students were asked to write self-criticism and commit not to re-offend.
The commune police also invited parents to work, hand over the children and requested families to strengthen management and education of their children.
According to Phuc Khanh Commune Police, regular patrols in high-risk areas help functional forces proactively detect, remind and prevent dangerous acts. Thereby, contributing to preventing drowning accidents, protecting the lives and health of children.
Phuc Khanh Commune Police recommends that parents should regularly remind and manage their children, not let children arbitrarily go swimming or practice swimming at rivers, streams, ponds, and lakes. Students should also not invite each other to areas with deep water, fast currents, or without adult supervision to swim or play.
Families need to proactively equip children with drowning prevention skills and raise self-protection awareness.
When detecting children swimming in dangerous areas, people need to notify local authorities or the Police force for support.
Proactively detecting and preventing early will contribute to limiting the risk of accidents and protecting the safety of children in the summer.
