On October 21, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City held a conference to review 5 years of implementing the Project: "Developing the public library system of Da Nang City for the period 2021 - 2025, with a vision to 2030".
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi acknowledged and praised the efforts of Departments, branches, sectors, localities, and outstanding collectives and individuals who have made many positive contributions to the effective implementation of the Project for the period 2021-2025.
The results achieved have contributed significantly to the development of the public library system, spreading the reading culture movement and making a practical contribution to the overall development of the city.
In the coming time, Vice Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City Nguyen Thi Anh Thi suggested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism continue to promote its role as a key unit, closely coordinate with agencies, units and localities to advise and propose specific and practical tasks and solutions to improve the public library system.
Thereby, affirming its position as an open knowledge center of the community, where all people, especially the younger generation, can access, learn, share and be creative.
The Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City emphasized the need to promote the reading movement among the entire population, making reading culture a part of social life, from schools, agencies, businesses to each residential area, each family.
From there, encourage each Da Nang resident to become a citizen of lifelong learning, focusing on building a team of library staff with sufficient capacity and qualifications to meet the requirements of working in the new period.
At the same time, developing public libraries is not only the task of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector but also a common responsibility of the entire political system and society.
