The combination of AI and advanced technical methods is expected to open up new approaches for the domestic technical and technological community.

The National Innovation Center (NIC) in collaboration with TechSource Systems & Ascendas Systems Group organized the workshop "Application of artificial intelligence in control system model design processes" (English name: Agentic AI Workflows with Model-Based Design for Control Systems), bringing a practical perspective on the application of Agentic AI combined with Model-Based Design methods in designing, simulating, verifying and developing new generation control systems.

According to Mr. Do Tien Thinh - Deputy Director of the National Innovation Center (NIC), Ministry of Finance - the role of innovation and application of new technologies in improving the research, development and competitiveness capacity of Vietnamese businesses. The combination of AI and advanced technical methods such as Model-Based Design is expected to open up new approaches for the domestic technical and technological community.

The workshop will introduce how Agentic AI can be integrated into the Model-Based Design process, from receiving requests in natural language to building control system and control object models, performing closed-loop simulation, creating test cases and analyzing simulation results. Through MATLAB® Agentic Toolkit and Simulink® Agentic Toolkit, attendees will have the opportunity to learn how AI agents can support engineers to perform more technical tasks more flexibly and effectively.

The highlight of the program is live technology demonstrations (live demo), helping participants observe how Agentic AI supports the entire task chain in the control system development process. AI agents can support creating models from natural requirements, performing simulations, evaluating results and proposing next steps.

Through this, the workshop demonstrates how to combine the automation capabilities of AI with the Model-Based Design method to create a systematic development process, verification capabilities and engineer supervision.

Sharing at the event, representatives of TechSource Systems & Ascendas Systems said: "Agentic AI is opening up a new approach in developing engineering systems, when AI not only supports engineers in performing individual tasks but can also participate in a chain of processes. When combining Agentic AI with Model-Based Design, we can take advantage of the speed and automation capabilities of AI while maintaining the structure, verification capabilities and necessary control in the process of developing control systems.

In addition to Agentic AI, the program also introduces real-time simulation processes and source code verification on real hardware. With Speedgoat and Simulink, participants will learn how real-time simulation can support the development and testing of electric motor control systems, helping engineers assess the behavior of the system in a simulation environment close to actual operating conditions.

Another demonstration focuses on Processor-in-the-Loop (PIL) on the Infineon AURIXTM microcontroller, illustrating the process from the Simulink model to the source code that is automatically generated and verified directly on the microcontroller. Combining SIL and PIL simulation with Simulink Test Manager, the demonstration shows how engineers can assess the arithmetic equivalence between the model and the source code, thereby enhancing the reliability of the system development and verification process.

In addition to professional content, the event also introduces MathWorks' startup support program, creating opportunities for startups and technology businesses to learn more about tools, platforms and resources to support the research, development and commercialization of products.
