On April 2, according to information from Vinh Long Provincial Police, the Investigation Police Agency completed procedures to handle wanted subject Nguyen Van Hieu (born in 1989, residing in Dong Thap province) for the act of property theft.
Previously, through investigation, it was determined that Nguyen Van Hieu and Nguyen Minh Giang (born in 1994, residing in Vinh Long province) invited each other to look for loose assets to steal and sell for spending money. On January 25, 2025, both drove motorbikes through many areas, discovered a motorbike unattended in front of a corrugated iron factory in Binh Phu commune, so they stole it, and then escaped.
After committing the crime, the subjects arranged to meet in Cao Lanh city (before the merger) to consume property. On April 8, 2025, the Investigation Police Agency of Vinh Long Provincial Police prosecuted Hieu and Giang for the act of property theft. Hieu fled the locality, so a wanted warrant was issued.
Using professional measures, on March 26, functional forces coordinated to arrest Nguyen Van Hieu while he was hiding in Tan Thoi Hiep ward, Ho Chi Minh City, then transferred him to Vinh Long for further investigation and handling according to regulations.
