At about 8 am on April 2, Vietnam time (evening of April 1, US time), President Donald Trump began his speech on the Iranian conflict.
According to CNN, this is President Donald Trump's first important national address on this conflict since it began at the end of February.
Before the speech took place, a White House official revealed that the president is expected to affirm his intention to end the conflict within the next 3 weeks. He also plans to update on the operation of the fighting that he and senior officials in the administration believe is ahead of schedule.
In his speech, Mr. Trump is also expected to reiterate 4 goals that the White House hopes to achieve: Destroying Iran's missiles and missile production facilities, destroying the country's navy, ensuring that Iran cannot support terrorist groups in the region and ensuring that the country does not possess nuclear weapons.
According to CNN, opening his speech, President Donald Trump said that the Iran conflict is "near completion", and predicted that the fighting would last for another 2-3 weeks.
Tonight, I am pleased to announce that these core strategic goals are about to be completed" - Mr. Trump said in a nationwide address during prime time.
We have done everything. Their navy has been destroyed. Their air force has also been destroyed. Their missiles are almost depleted or defeated. Overall, these actions will paralyze the Iranian army, shatter the ability to support authorized terrorist forces and prevent them from making nuclear bombs. Our armed forces have performed excellently" - Mr. Trump said.
President Donald Trump also considered the Iranian conflict the latest step in his years of efforts to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons, calling the conflict "necessary for the safety of the United States and the security of the free world".
