On June 29, the Military Command (CHQS) of An Giang province organized a conference to summarize the military and local defense work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy directions and tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
In the first 6 months of 2026, the Provincial Party Committee and Military Command proactively advised the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee to lead and direct the comprehensive implementation of local military and national defense tasks; building an all-people national defense associated with an increasingly solid people's security posture. The provincial armed forces strictly maintained combat readiness, organized 112 combat readiness transition and force mobilization exercises with more than 2,000 turns of officers and soldiers participating; closely coordinated with forces to firmly grasp the local situation, promptly handle situations, and not be passive or surprised.

Force building work achieved many outstanding results. The whole province completed 100% of the target of selecting and calling 2,950 citizens to enlist; building militia and self-defense forces reached 0.81% compared to the population, reserve mobilization forces reached nearly 100% of the target. National defense and security education work was deployed synchronously, organizing training for over 1,160 cadres of all subjects; propaganda and dissemination of national defense and security knowledge more than 300 times with over 13,000 participants.
The quality of training continues to be improved. Standing troops training reached a troop strength of over 99%, new soldiers achieved good results; organized 15 training and fostering classes for nearly 1,500 officers. The Provincial Military Command closely directed the preparation for defense area exercises at commune, ward, and special zone levels; Infantry Regiment 892 was selected as a pilot of the Military Region for tactical team training.
In performing civil defense tasks, the provincial armed forces mobilized more than 2,200 turns of officers, soldiers and militia to participate in fighting 42 fires, overcoming the consequences of 28 storms, 9 landslides and subsidence points and rescuing many cases in the area, contributing to protecting the lives and property of the people.

Party building work and political work were comprehensively deployed; the "Determined to Win" emulation movement was promoted; mass mobilization work, military rear policies, and defense foreign affairs achieved many positive results. In particular, the Steering Committee of 515 provinces effectively implemented the 500-day and night Campaign to promote the search, repatriation, and identification of martyrs' remains. In the first 6 months of the year, Teams K92 and K93 searched and repatriated 157 martyrs' remains in Vietnam and Cambodia.
In addition, logistics and technical work are fully and promptly ensured for tasks; effective management and exploitation of weapons and technical equipment; good implementation of troop health care, building regularity, managing discipline, administrative reform and digital transformation, contributing to improving the overall quality and combat strength of the provincial armed forces.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Major General Nguyen Van Hung - Commander of the Provincial Military Command praised the results achieved in the first 6 months of the year; and at the same time requested Party committees and commanders of agencies and units to continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement resolutions and directives of superiors; strictly maintain the combat readiness regime. Focus on improving the quality of training, drills, building regularity, and managing discipline; accelerating the construction of defense area projects; effectively implementing military recruitment, national defense and security education, disaster prevention and control, rescue and relief, the "500 days and nights" campaign to search for and repatriate martyrs' remains, determined to comprehensively complete the military and local defense tasks in 2026.
