On the morning of February 20, Ms. Hoang Thi Quynh Diep - Deputy Head of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Ha Tinh province - said that from the end of December 2024 until now, there have been many outbreaks of African swine fever in Ha Tinh province.
African swine fever has appeared in 7 communes of Cam Xuyen district, 3 communes of Ha Tinh city, 1 commune in Huong Khe district with a total of 318 infected pigs with a total weight of more than 23 tons that had to be destroyed. Of which, outbreaks mainly appeared in small and small-scale livestock households.
According to Ms. Diep, immediately after the epidemic was discovered, the specialized agency directly inspected, coordinated with local authorities and livestock farming households to implement epidemic prevention measures, destroy sick pigs and conduct poisoning spraying and disinfection of livestock barns.
At the same time, the authorities have also strengthened control of the situation of slaughter, purchase and transportation of livestock in the area.
The situation of African swine fever in Ha Tinh is still under control. However, with the current disease-prone weather and the complicated epidemics in neighboring provinces, the risk of disease spread is still high. Therefore, it is very important and necessary for livestock owners to proactively and seriously implement epidemic prevention measures to effectively prevent the epidemic," said Ms. Diep.
Currently, the professional sector has also recommended limiting herding in households that have just had an epidemic and have not yet ensured epidemic safety. When buying pigs for raising, you need to choose a clear origin, pigs are healthy, and when buying them, you must be fully vaccinated against the disease.
On February 11, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ha Tinh province issued a document directing the strengthening of measures to prevent African swine fever in the area.
On February 18, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province also issued a telegram on the implementation of emergency measures to prevent African swine fever and dangerous diseases in livestock.
