On the evening of September 15, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City coordinated with the Vietnam Basketball Federation to organize the opening ceremony of the 2025 National 5x5 U23 Basketball Championship.
Taking place at Ba Ria - Vung Tau Sports Stadium (Tam Thang ward), the tournament gathered 238 athletes from 17 teams (13 men's teams and 4 women's teams) to compete in the men's and women's events. The teams with high rankings in the tournament will be selected as the seed team.
According to the organizing committee, the tournament is an important occasion to develop the next generation, select excellent athletes to train and supplement the national team, and prepare for the international arena in the coming time.
At the same time, it also creates opportunities for young athletes across the country to exchange experiences and practice competitive spirit. It also contributes to promoting the movement of practicing and developing basketball nationwide.
Right after the opening ceremony was the men's basketball match between Ho Chi Minh City - BRVT 1 and Gia Lai. The matches are expected to take place until September 23.
