From October 31, widespread flooding occurred in Ha Tinh, mainly in the communes downstream of Ke Go Lake with more than 5,000 households flooded.
In Cam Due commune, there is 1 health station, 7 schools, 2,658 households, 250 wells, 870 sanitary works flooded; Cam Binh commune has 3 health stations, 5 schools, more than 1,400 households, 205 wells and 180 sanitary works flooded.
On November 1, the Ha Tinh Department of Health issued a document directing the provision of medical services and disease prevention due to floods.
Implementing the direction of the Department of Health, Cam Xuyen Medical Center and commune health stations simultaneously deploy environmental sanitation and disinfection to prevent epidemics.
Deputy Director of Cam Xuyen Medical Center Nguyen Thuy Phong - said that the chemicals for disinfection and water cleaning after receiving them from the Ha Tinh Provincial Center for Disease Control have been distributed by the unit to the health stations.
As soon as the flood receded, Cam Xuyen Medical Center mobilized staff to go to flooded areas to support medical stations in providing environmental sanitation instructions and preventing epidemics.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control - said that after the flood, there is a risk of diseases such as: Diarrhea, pain in the eyes, respiratory tract inflammation, foot-and-mouth fungal infections, flu, dengue fever, especially diseases transmitted through the digestive tract such as diarrhea, chills, dysentery, welding... so localities need to do a good job of disease prevention.
"Diseptic chemicals and water supply have been fully supplied, so when the flood receded, localities quickly took action to handle the environment, preventing the risk of disease outbreaks. Medical centers and health stations strengthen community supervision, early detection of pathogens and cases to proactively take preventive and control measures early, said Mr. Thanh.

According to Mr. Thanh, people need to proactively clean the environment, treat water sources and sanitation works with Chloramine B chemicals. Flooded localities must carry out environmental sanitation work, collect waste and dead animals in flooded areas for treatment and destruction in accordance with regulations.
Recently, a working group of the Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control has been on site to monitor and spray disinfectants at schools and some wells of people in Cam Due and Cam Binh communes.
