On March 29, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee said that Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed and issued Decision No. 490/QD-TTg, approving the expansion of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone with a total area of 104,269.94 ha, including 93,319.94 ha of land and 10,950 ha of sea surface.
The economic zone is oriented to develop multi-sectorally, with industry as the core, with priority areas such as electronics, automobiles, supporting industries, renewable energy, steelmaking and rolling, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding and agricultural, forestry and fishery processing.

The scale expansion is not only aimed at attracting investment but also creating a large labor demand in the coming time, especially in key industrial parks such as VSIP Nghe An.
According to the Management Board of Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone, the Job Fair phase 1 in 2026 at VSIP Nghe An Industrial Park has achieved positive results, contributing to effectively connecting labor supply and demand.
Specifically, the festival is organized with the participation of 20 businesses, offering recruitment needs of up to 71,000 job positions. Of which, unskilled labor accounts for about 93%, and the rest are technical, office and management positions.
The event attracted 2,170 participants, including 900 students and 1,270 freelancers. 1,369 people were consulted and oriented in their careers; of which 823 workers had been trained and 546 were general workers. Notably, about 80% of the dossiers of trained workers have the ability to use foreign languages.
As of March 15, 2026, businesses have recruited 4,403 workers, mainly general laborers, in addition to some positions requiring college and university degrees.
According to the Management Board of Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone, the above results show the effectiveness of organization and propaganda work when more than 300 banners and flags were deployed, information spread widely on digital platforms and grassroots communication systems. Many universities, colleges, and high schools also coordinated to bring nearly 900 high school students to participate.
In the context of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone continuing to expand, functional agencies said they will promote career counseling, expand recruitment channels on digital platforms and organize mobile job transaction sessions.
The synchronization between economic development planning and job creation is expected to create new attraction for young workers, contributing to retaining local human resources and promoting socio-economic development of Nghe An in the coming period.
