In the atmosphere of voters across the country looking towards the 16th National Assembly Deputy and People's Council Deputy Election Day, term 2026 - 2031, at Anti-Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 in An Giang province, preparations are entering the final stage. For trainees who are detoxified and treated here, holding a ballot in their hands is not only exercising citizenship but also an important milestone on the journey of community reintegration.
Recognizing this as a key political task, the Command Board of Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 of An Giang province soon established an Election Assistance Team, closely coordinating with the local Election Committee to review and compile a list of voters who are students serving compulsory drug rehabilitation decisions.
Drug rehabilitation center No. 1 of An Giang province has a total of more than 1,000 trainees, of which more than 980 trainees with voting rights belong to Election Team No. 4 (Giong Cat hamlet, Vinh Gia commune).
This is the first time the An Giang Provincial Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 has directly organized for trainees to exercise the right to vote right at the rehabilitation center, after a year of receiving the task of state management of drug rehabilitation and post-drug rehabilitation.
In the central areas and student dormitories, signs listing voter lists and summary biographies of candidates are arranged solemnly, convenient for monitoring. The work of reviewing personal information, comparing household registration books and personal papers of each student is carried out meticulously to ensure that no one is overlooking their political rights in accordance with the provisions of the Election Law.
Identifying the specific characteristics of students who often have a psychology of self-doubt or limited legal awareness, An Giang province's Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 has promoted propaganda work in many diverse forms. The internal loudspeaker system regularly broadcasts daily content about the standards of National Assembly deputies, People's Council deputies, election principles and voting procedures.
Besides, at thematic meetings, grassroots officials also directly answer students' questions about the voting area diagram, how to correctly draw ballots according to regulations. These discussions help students understand that, even while undergoing drug rehabilitation treatment, they are still part of the great national unity bloc, and their voice is still valuable in building the State apparatus.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Ay - Head of Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 of An Giang province - said: "We consider election propaganda as an important rehabilitation education content. Through learning about the constitution and law, students see the concern of the Party and the State for all classes of people, thereby arousing self-esteem and sense of responsibility. When they understand the value of the ballot, they will have more energy to train, soon return to their localities to reintegrate into the community and become useful people for society.
Mr. N.V.N - a trainee being treated at the facility - confided: "Before, I thought coming here would lose all rights. But being guided by the teachers and staff of the facility, I understand that I still have responsibility to the country. I spent time reading the biographies of the delegates carefully, hoping to elect people who are really interested in policies to support employment for people after detoxification, helping us have a bright path to return to life.
With careful preparation in terms of facilities and in-depth ideological work, it is believed that on the upcoming election day, each ballot issued to voters who are trainees at Anti-Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1 in An Giang province will carry the belief, hope and aspiration to rise up of people who are striving to find themselves again.
