An Giang - Voters in Tien Hai island commune have many recommendations related to the life and development of the island commune area.

On March 11, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province organized a meeting and contact between voters in Tien Hai island commune and candidates for the 16th National Assembly, term 2026 – 2031, belonging to constituency No. 5 to carry out election campaigns in accordance with the law.

The candidates include: Mr. Tran The Dinh, Member of the Inspection Committee of the School Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of Party Cell 6, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Pedagogy in charge of An Giang University; Mr. Nguyen Van Han, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of An Giang Provincial Police; Mr. Truong Van Quoc, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of the Youth Committee of An Giang Provincial Police; Mr. Le Trung Thanh, Member of the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Construction, Secretary of the Party Cell, Director of the Department of Science, Technology, Environment and Building Materials (Ministry of Construction), Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Building Materials Association; Mr. Nguyen Danh Tu, Member of the Inspection Committee of the Party Committee, National Assembly deputy working full-time at the Law and Justice Committee of the National Assembly.

At the conference, voters heard a summary biography of the candidates and their action programs.

In his action program, Major General Nguyen Van Han, Director of An Giang Provincial Police, emphasized that if he is trusted by voters to be elected as a National Assembly Deputy of the 16th term, he will strive to maximize the spirit of responsibility of a people's representative; regularly maintain close contact with voters, listen to and fully absorb the thoughts and legitimate aspirations of the People to promptly and truthfully reflect to the National Assembly and competent agencies for consideration and resolution.

In particular, in the face of the difficulties and characteristics of the island commune area, Major General Nguyen Van Han said that he will pay attention to proposing to the National Assembly, the Government and central ministries and branches to continue to improve appropriate mechanisms and policies to improve the quality of social security for people in coastal and island areas. In which, focus on essential areas such as health care, health, education, civil infrastructure and policies to support marine economic development, creating conditions for people in island communes to better access public services and development policies of the State.

In addition, in his position as Director of the Provincial Police, Major General Nguyen Van Han affirmed that he will continue to direct the Provincial Police force to synchronously deploy measures to firmly ensure national defense and security, maintain sovereignty and security of sea and island areas; proactively prevent and effectively combat crimes and law-breaking acts at sea. Thereby contributing to building a secure, safe, and stable environment for fishermen to feel secure in going offshore, developing the economy, improving their lives and making positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality.

At the conference, voters in Tien Hai commune expressed their concern and expectations for the candidates for National Assembly deputies, and at the same time had many opinions and recommendations related to the life and development of the island commune area. In which, voters proposed that the Central Government and functional agencies study and promulgate specific mechanisms and policies on salaries and allowances for cadres, civil servants, and public employees working in the island commune; pay more attention to the field of education and health care for people; and at the same time have appropriate policies to promote marine economic development, creating conditions for fishermen to stabilize their lives, feel secure in sticking to the sea, and develop production.
