The People's Committee of Quang Ngai province has just issued a decision to administratively sanction a total of more than 680 million VND against fisherman Vo Cao Trung (41 years old), residing in Co Luy village, Tinh Khe commune, Quang Ngai province, for many violations in the field of seafood and food safety.
Specifically, Mr. Vo Cao Trung did not comply with the inspection and control of competent authorities for the vessels according to regulations; did not install a journey monitoring device on fishing vessels with the largest length from 15m to less than 24m; did not have a crew member's registration book according to regulations; the safety certificate of fishing vessels and the fishing license were both expired; did not buy insurance for fishing vessels; did not arrange enough to ensure crew member safety; and at the same time, did not have a food business certificate but did not have a facility certificate of food safety and hygiene.
Previously, at around 9:00 a.m. on August 31, at the Sa Ky estuary (An Vinh village, Tinh Khe commune), the Sa Ky Border Guard Station coordinated with the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command to inspect the fishing boat with registration number QNg 91369-TS, 16.3m long, 400CV capacity, owned and captained by Mr. Vo Cao Trung while en route to shore after the fishing trip at sea.
Through inspection, the authorities discovered that the ship did not complete the departure procedures at Sa Ky Border Control Station as prescribed, and there were many other violations in the field of seafood exploitation as mentioned above.
In addition to the fine, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province also applied an additional penalty of revoking the right to use the Fishing Vessel Certificate No. 01210 issued by the Institute of Fisheries Exploitation Science and Technology (Nha Trang University) to Mr. Trung for a period of 9 months.
