Nghe An - Localities strengthen inspection and dismantle thousands of meters of trap nets, preventing the situation of hunting and trading wild birds.

On September 20, Hung Nguyen Nam Commune People's Committee (Nghe An) said that the locality has just coordinated with Vinh Forest Protection Department, Commune Police and grassroots security forces of hamlets to organize inspections and dismantle points of nets and traps for catching wild birds in the area.

Through inspection, functional forces recovered thousands of meters of nets along with many stakes and bird traps. All nets, stakes and tools after recovery were gathered and destroyed to prevent continued use for wild bird hunting.

Along with recovering and destroying trapping vehicles, functional forces have received 3 wild bird individuals and released them back into the natural environment.

According to the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen Nam commune, in the coming time, the locality will continue to coordinate with forest rangers and police to strengthen patrols and inspections in key areas such as fields and riverside areas; promptly recover, dismantle, and destroy nets, traps, prey birds and equipment serving the extermination of wild birds.

At the same time, promote propaganda and mobilize people not to participate or assist in hunting, trading, transporting, keeping and consuming wild birds and animals; encourage people to voluntarily hand over wild animal individuals and hunting tools.

In Minh Chau commune, local authorities also deployed a peak period of inspection and prevention of hunting, trapping, trading and consuming wild birds.

The inspection had the participation of more than 20 officers, soldiers, and civil servants. Through this, functional forces dismantled more than 2,500m of nets and more than 100 bamboo stakes used to trap wild birds.

Notably, before functional forces conducted inspections, some households proactively dismantled bird trapping tools. Minh Chau Commune People's Committee assessed this as a positive signal, showing that people's awareness of wildlife protection is changing.

However, the locality requires dismantling to be carried out consciously, regularly, not for show; and at the same time continue to maintain inspections in areas at risk of illegal bird hunting activities.

In Yen Thanh commune, the Commune People's Committee coordinated with the Commune Police and local forest rangers to organize inspections in market areas to promptly detect and prevent the situation of trading and trading in natural birds.

Through inspection, the delegation discovered and seized bird individuals being sold in the market area. Living bird individuals that meet the conditions are inspected, cared for and released back to the natural environment by functional forces.

Previously, in the Yen Nhan hamlet area, Yen Thanh Commune People's Committee coordinated with the Commune Police and forest rangers to inspect and handle the situation of casting nets to hunt birds.

Through inspection, functional forces discovered 112 stakes and 1,820m of nets used to trap and catch birds; and recorded 4 individual swallows caught in nets that had died. All stakes and nets were dismantled, seized and handled according to regulations.

Strengthening inspection and dismantling of net and trap points for catching birds in many localities in Nghe An aims to prevent illegal hunting, trading, and consumption of wild birds, contributing to biodiversity conservation and raising people's awareness in wildlife protection.
