After the flood, supermarkets such as MM Mega Market, GO! Co.opmart... have stepped up the restoration of transportation and supplemented essential goods.

Empty shelves because people buy relief goods for flood victims

In recent days, supermarkets in Ho Chi Minh City such as MM Mega Market, GO!, Emart, Lotte, Co.opmart..., have been bustling with people sending relief goods to people in the Central region. Essential sales areas such as noodles, rice, milk, boxed fish, sausages... are almost empty, and staff have to constantly arrange because of the large number of buyers.

Ms. Pham Thanh Van (living in An Nhon ward) shared: "I went to buy rice for my family, ready to buy more rice, drinking water and a few warm clothes to send to people facing difficulties after the flood. Hopefully these small gifts will help them somewhat overcome the difficult period."

Mr. Vu Van Hung (living in Vuon Lai ward) added: "supermarkets have arranged gathering points, dedicated tour guides, so buying goods to send to relief points is very convenient. We see this as the most practical way to join hands with the Central region.

Many students and volunteer groups are also present at supermarkets to buy essential necessities and household items to send to the Central provinces.

Essential goods restored

Speaking with Lao Dong, a representative of MM Mega Market Vietnam said: Since November 23, MM Mega Market Vietnam's transportation of goods from the South to the Central region has gradually recovered, allowing us to deliver goods back to Quy Nhon and Da Nang warehouses. In the North, the supply of goods is maintained thanks to shipping from Moc Chau warehouse, Bac Ninh central warehouse and the network of suppliers in the area.

Goods from Da Lat have also been circulating on authorized routes, contributing to supplementing supply for both the South and the North. At the same time, this retail system has increased essential goods such as packaged pasta and rice and coordinated with suppliers to support the distribution of goods to severely affected areas, within its capacity.

MM Mega Market Vietnam has developed many response plans to minimize the risk of price fluctuations, focusing on three groups of solutions: diversifying supply through many suppliers in each area to reduce dependence on one location; optimizing logistics coordination when routes are allowed to circulate to shorten transportation time; coordinating with suppliers to minimize factors affecting price levels.

After a temporary suspension due to the impact of floods, GO! Nha Trang has reopened since today (November 26), ready to serve and accompany customers during the recovery period after natural disasters. Goods have been fully replenished, from fresh vegetables, meat and fish, necessities to essential consumer products to fully meet customer needs.

On this occasion, to share with people in flooded areas, GO supermarkets! The Central region also applies unprofessional sales with nearly 2,000 garments and household appliances; focusing on essential products such as scarves of all kinds, warm blankets, scarves, warm clothes and basic clothes of all kinds. In addition, there are full buckets, household appliances, pots, chargers and flashlights... necessary items to clean the house after the storm.

The program lasted for 2 consecutive weeks, from November 25 to December 7, thereby creating maximum conditions for people to overcome the consequences of the recent natural disasters and floods.
