On June 2, Lao Cai Provincial Police said that functional forces had just received a monkey individual voluntarily handed over by people in Bao Ha commune, thereby contributing to spreading awareness of wildlife protection in the community.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 1, Mr. Mai Van Thanh (born in 1990, residing in Lien Ha 5 village, Bao Ha commune) proactively contacted Bao Ha Commune Police and Bao Ha Forest Protection Station to hand over a wild monkey individual appearing in the family's production shack area.

According to Mr. Thanh, recently this monkey often came to the living area to find food. Through observation, the animal showed signs of being thin and weak, unstable health and difficulty in surviving in the natural environment.
Fearing that the monkey could be abused or in danger if it continued to wander outside, Mr. Thanh decided to notify the authorities for appropriate handling measures.
Immediately after receiving the information, Bao Ha Commune Police coordinated with Bao Ha Forest Protection Station to check the initial condition of the monkey individual, prepare a dossier for receipt and carry out procedures according to regulations on wildlife management and protection.
After that, the monkey was handed over to the Hoang Lien Center for Tourism and Conservation of Organisms to continue care, health monitoring, and rescue and conservation work.
According to Lao Cai Provincial Police, Mr. Mai Van Thanh's voluntary act of handing over wild animals is a commendable act, showing the spirit of responsibility of the people for the work of protecting natural resources and biodiversity.
People's proactive coordination with functional forces not only helps ensure the safety of wildlife but also contributes to raising community awareness about protecting forest animal species, preventing illegal hunting, captivation, trading and transportation of wild animals.
Through the incident, Bao Ha Commune Police also advised people when detecting wild animals injured, lost or showing signs of needing rescue, to quickly notify functional agencies for timely support, contributing to protecting the ecosystem and preserving natural resources for future generations.
