Da Nang Police expand investigation into the case of money laundering worth thousands of billions, many banks are being searched
On August 22, Da Nang City Police provided more information about the major money laundering ring case with a scale of more than 30,000 billion VND.
Through expanding the investigation of the project "Money laundering; Using computer networks, telecommunications networks, and electronic means to commit acts of property appropriation; Illegal trading of bank account information; Forgery of seals and documents of agencies and organizations" with a transaction amount of more than 30,000 billion VND, Da Nang City Police have identified many bank officers and employees who colluded and assisted criminals.
According to the Economic Police Department, during the investigation, the authorities discovered thousands of "ghost" corporate bank accounts and personal accounts that were not their owners. Notably, many cases of scammers using fake documents, even without having to go directly to the bank, still open accounts.

Submitting a project to convert 400,000 gasoline motorbikes to electricity in Ho Chi Minh City in September
The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Development Studies (HIDS) will submit a project to convert gasoline-powered motorbikes to electricity for about 400,000 technology drivers in September.
This information was announced by Master Le Thanh Hai - Director of the Economic Application Consulting Center (under HIDS) at the seminar "Reducing emissions, filtering the air" organized by Thanh Nien Newspaper on the morning of August 22.
According to Mr. Hai, from 2026, Ho Chi Minh City will start the roadmap by not allowing drivers using gasoline vehicles to register newly on transportation service platforms. The existing drivers have 3 years (2026 - 2028) to gradually switch to electric vehicles.
The main proposed solution is to lend drivers to installment pay for electric vehicles, with the method of taking savings from fuel to gradually pay within 3 years, an average of about 1 million VND/month.

On August 21, Lang Son province experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing local flooding, isolating many areas, posing a potential risk of landslides and flash floods.
In the communes of Huu Lung, Bac Son, Tan Thanh, Tuan Son, Nhat Hoa, Yen Binh..., heavy rain caused the water level of rivers and streams to rise, many places were deeply flooded, and there was a risk of landslides on road slopes and areas along the stream.
Some households had to be urgently evacuated to avoid damage to people and property.
