On August 21, Lang Son province experienced prolonged heavy rain, causing local flooding, isolating many areas, posing a potential risk of landslides and flash floods.

In the communes of Huu Lung, Bac Son, Tan Thanh, Tuan Son, Nhat Hoa, Yen Binh..., heavy rain caused the water level of rivers and streams to rise, many places were deeply flooded, and there was a risk of landslides on road slopes and areas along the stream.
Some households had to be urgently evacuated to avoid damage to people and property.


According to preliminary statistics, floods have affected more than 100 houses due to landslides and inundation; dozens of households have had to evacuate to safety. Agricultural production suffered heavy damage with hundreds of hectares of rice and crops flooded, many livestock and poultry were swept away.
Traffic in many places was paralyzed with about 50 landslides, thousands of cubic meters of rock and soil spilling onto the road. Some underground bridges and roads were deeply flooded, causing local isolation.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hoa (Huu Lung commune) shared: "When I woke up the morning, the water was still up to the level of people, so I and some people in the village had to ask for a rescue boat to be able to go to work."
In particular, in Nhat Hoa commune - where many areas were deeply flooded, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department has increased 16 officers, 3 cars and 2 rubber boats, urgently deploying rescue operations to ensure the safety of the people.

"The water rose very quickly, some households were stuck in their homes and could not react. Without the support of the police force, the danger would be unpredictable," said a resident of Nhat Hoa commune.
Updated until noon on August 22, many localities in the province were still flooded and isolated.
Talking to reporters, the leader of Van Nham Commune People's Committee said that the commune currently has at least 10 flooded and isolated locations, especially in areas along the Trung River. On Provincial Road 242, there are also 4 flooded spots, completely paralyzing traffic.

"Last night, the water rose rapidly and strongly, in some places 1-2m high. Some families are subjective and cannot move their assets in time. Fortunately, people have been moved to a safe place," said the commune leader.
Faced with complicated developments, Colonel Le Dang Khoa, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, directly visited key areas, inspected the situation and directed the implementation of response plans, mobilizing maximum forces and means to ensure absolute safety for the people.

Directing at the scene, the Deputy Director of Lang Son Provincial Police requested the Fire Prevention and Rescue and Commune Police to focus highly, mobilizing maximum forces to ensure people's lives and property.
According to the Lang Son Hydrometeorological Station, the water level of the Trung River is rising rapidly. At 4:00 p.m. on August 21, the water level measured at Huu Lung Hydrological Station reached 1,920 cm, 20 cm higher than alert level III.
Currently, floods on the Trung River continue to rise above alert level III. It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the flood will peak and then gradually decrease to alert level II.
