On January 3rd, the Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police (PC08) said that during the 2026 New Year holiday, the unit has synchronously implemented many solutions to ensure traffic order and safety (TTATGT), focusing on strengthening patrols, controls and strictly handling violations that are direct causes of traffic accidents.
According to the Traffic Police Department, from December 31, 2025 to January 2, 2026, the traffic police force of the whole city has made records of handling 6,399 cases of traffic safety violations. Notably, 2,075 cases of alcohol concentration violations, especially on January 2, 2026, up to 886 cases were fined.
According to PC08, during this time, it has directed Teams and Stations to proactively review and identify routes and areas with complex traffic order and safety issues; strengthen the deployment of forces to strictly handle violations such as using alcohol, beer, and drugs while driving vehicles; violations in passenger and cargo transport activities; stopping, parking, picking up and dropping off passengers not in accordance with regulations.
On the night of January 2, all units of Teams and Stations under the Traffic Police Department simultaneously launched operations, coordinating with commune-level police, mobile police, youth volunteer forces... to organize inspections and strictly handle cases of alcohol concentration violations - one of the common and potentially high-risk behaviors causing traffic accidents during holidays and Tet.
In the process of inspection and handling, the traffic police force also combines propaganda and explains to violators about the risks of accidents that may occur; mobilizes people to sign commitments not to re-offend, strictly comply with the law when participating in traffic.
In the coming time, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police will continue to maintain patrol, control, and handle violations; at the same time, receive videos and images reflecting traffic safety violations from people to verify and handle according to legal regulations, contributing to ensuring safe and smooth traffic in the city.
