Nearly 200 km from Mang But commune, in Mang Ri commune (separated from the old Tu Mo Rong district), a 2.8-magnitude earthquake also occurred at 8:41 a.m.
These earthquakes are about 8 km deep, with a natural disaster risk level of 0, and are being monitored by authorities.
Since the beginning of September, Mang But commune has continuously recorded a series of earthquakes with occurring volumes ranging from 2.8 to 4.5 richter.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on September 29, the Northern region and from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have moderate rain, heavy rain, locally very heavy rain; Thanh Hoa, Nghe An provinces, the southern provinces of Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Son La will have heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall from 7am to 3pm on September 29 was measured by monitoring stations over 190 mm such as: Thiet Ke station (Thanh Hoa) 268.4 mm, Ta Si Lang station (Lao Cai) 251.4 mm, Xuan Son station (Phu Tho) 224.4 mm, Muong So 2 station (Son La) 197.0 mm.
Son La, Phu Tho and Lao Cai provinces are forecast to have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall of 70 - 150 mm, locally over 250 mm from the evening of September 29 to September 30.
