Cage crocodile owner bites teacher in Tay Ninh fined 315 million VND
Information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province on December 17 said that this agency has issued a decision to administratively fine an individual in Tam Vu commune 315 million VND for illegally raising and trapping watercress - an endangered, precious, and rare wild animal in a strictly protected group.
According to the information, Mr. N.M.T (residing in Hamlet 8, Tam Vu Commune) illegally raised and locked up a crocodile (Crocodylus porosus) when he did not have documents proving the legal origin of the forest product. Previously, on November 20, 2025, the Mobile Forest Ranger and Forest Fire Prevention and Fighting Team No. 2 conducted an inspection and made a record of administrative violations in this case.
The watercress crocodile is a species in Appendix I of the CITES Convention, classified in Group IB according to the List of endangered, precious and rare wild animals of Vietnam, and is protected at the highest level.

Project to destroy a large-scale fraud group in Cambodia

On December 17, Quang Tri Provincial Police said that they had just successfully fought a particularly large-scale property fraud case led by Nguyen Tien Thiet (also known as "Hai", born in 1992, residing in An Chau commune, Nghe An province), arresting 14 related subjects.
According to the investigation, this group operated with an organization and headquarters in Cambodia, using sophisticated methods in cyberspace. The subjects "impersonating lawyers" and "law Firms" approached people who were victims of previous scams, promising to support the recovery of misappropriated money. After creating trust, they ask victims to pay the "reversal fees" to the accounts provided by the group and then appropriate them.

tornado sweeps through residential area in Da Nang
The tornado in Quang Phu ward, Da Nang city caused damage to many households' houses.
On December 17, Mr. Huynh Ngoc Ba, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Phu Ward, Da Nang City confirmed that a tornado had just occurred in the ward, blowing off the roofs of many houses.
The incident occurred at around 11am the same day, the tornado swept through Quy Ngoc block, Phu Quy block, causing damage to 4 households in the area.
Of which, 1 house had its roof completely blown off, the remaining 3 houses had tiles flying and were severely damaged. Fortunately, the incident did not cause any human casualties.
Immediately after the incident, the local government directed the Ward Military Command to mobilize forces to support affected households.
