2 km2 ward, nearly 91,000 people in Ho Chi Minh City propose not to merge
On August 30, the Phu Lam Ward Party Committee said that it had previously organized an expanded Conference of the Ward Party Committee Executive Committee to comprehensively assess the organizational and operational situation after more than a year of operating the 2-level local government model; and at the same time consider the necessity of continuing to arrange administrative units.
Phu Lam ward officially operates from July 1, 2025, on the basis of merging 3 old wards including wards 12, 13 and 14 of District 6 previously.
After the merger, Phu Lam ward has an area of about 2 km2 (reaching 40% of the minimum standard of 5.5 km2), a population of nearly 91,000 people (about 4.3 times higher than the minimum standard of 21,000 people), including 23 neighborhoods.

Quang Tri strengthens control over school fees
On August 30, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Xuan Hien - Head of Planning - Finance Department of Quang Tri Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) said that before the 2026-2027 school year, the sector is reviewing regulations related to regimes, policies and school fees.
Regarding expenses that previously worried parents at the beginning of previous school years such as sanitation costs and school security, the viewpoint of the Education sector is not to collect from parents.
According to Mr. Hien, ensuring school security and school hygiene is the responsibility of the school, not the contribution of parents.
