Train adds about 20,000 seats during New Year's Day
The 2026 New Year holiday lasts 4 days from January 1st to the end of January 4th, the railway industry announced plans to increase trips and add train cars to serve passenger travel needs.
In addition to passenger trains running regularly daily, including 4 pairs of Thong Nhat SE1/2, SE3/4, SE5/6, SE7/8 passenger trains (Hanoi - Saigon); 1 pair of SE19/20 trains (Hanoi - Da Nang); 1 pair of NA1/2 trains (Hanoi - Vinh); 1 pair of SE22/21 trains (Saigon - Da Nang); 2 pairs of Central Heritage trains (Hue - Da Nang); 1 pair of SNT2/1 trains (Saigon - Nha Trang); train SPT2/1 (Saigon - Phan Thiet); 2 pairs of SP trains (Hanoi - Lao Cai); 4 pairs of Hoa Phuong Do trains (Hanoi - Hai Phong), the railway industry organizes additional regional passenger train trips and connects more cars to regular trains.

Ho Chi Minh City clears nearly 4,400 houses to build 7 projects worth more than 34,000 billion VND
Ho Chi Minh City is accelerating the clearance of nearly 4,400 houses to implement 7 projects to renovate and embellish canals with a total investment of more than 34,000 billion VND. The Van Thanh canal renovation project (Thanh My Tay ward) has a total investment of more than 8,555 billion VND, including two component projects: compensation, support, resettlement of more than 6,812 billion VND and construction costs of more than 1,743 billion VND.

The project to dredge and renovate Ong Be canal (Chanh Hung ward and Binh Hung commune) has a total capital of more than 7,785 billion VND. About 1,636 houses along Ong Be canal will be cleared. The project includes dredging a canal 4.2 km long, building a 4.5 km long embankment, building a new road 12 - 16 m wide, more than 2.4 km long and a synchronous technical infrastructure system.

Testing zero-dollar toll collection on Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway from January 1, 2026
On December 27, in an exchange with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Quoc Huy - Deputy Director of Project Management Board 7 (Ministry of Construction) said that from January 1, 2026, the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway will organize toll collection in the form of "0 VND".
According to Mr. Huy, this is a trial operation phase to assess the synchronous operation capacity of the non-stop toll collection system. This includes vehicle identification, data connection and the stability of the entire technical infrastructure. "The time of official toll collection will be decided by the Ministry of Construction, based on the test operation results" - Mr. Huy emphasized.
