The union agreed on a plan to have 4 consecutive days off for the 2026 New Year
On December 24, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued an official dispatch on giving comments on the 2026 New Year holiday plan.
The document signed by Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Ngo Duy Hieu said that in response to Official Dispatch No. 1251/BNV-CVL dated December 24, 2025 of the Ministry of Home Affairs on asking for opinions on the holiday plan for the Lunar New Year 2026, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized an online consultation for workers and trade union officials, accordingly, 63% of those surveyed agreed with the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (25,154 voters).
Based on the above results, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has agreed with the New Year holiday plan in 2026 as proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Thus, during the 2026 New Year, civil servants and public employees will have 4 consecutive days off (from Thursday, January 1, 2026 to Sunday, January 4, 2026).

Ho Chi Minh City residents caught a precious bird suspected to be Hong Hoang weighing nearly 3 kg

On December 24, Mr. Pham Van Tinh, 43 years old, living in Hamlet 4, Xuan Thoi Son Commune, said he had just caught a largeagedagedagedagedagedagedagedagedaged bird, suspected to be a rare Hong Hoang species.
The incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. the same day when Mr. Tinh was standing in front of his house on Xuan Thoi Son 36 Street, a turn from Nguyen Van Bua Street. At this time, he discovered a large bird flying from the field and landed in a low tree in the garden, about 100 m from where he was standing.
Realizing that the bird had a strange shape with a long and very large chin, Mr. Tinh proactively approached and successfully arrested this individual. Through preliminary measurements on the spot, the bird weighed nearly 3 kg.
