Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just sent a document to relevant units on strengthening the management, prevention and combat of crimes related to weapons, explosives, support tools and fireworks.
According to the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province, in 2024, the police force mobilized people to hand over 3,258 weapons and support tools of all kinds; fought and handled 75 cases, arrested 146 criminals and violators of the law on weapons, explosives, support tools and fireworks.
From January 1, 2025, new regulations on the management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools will take effect. This is also the time when the crime situation and violations of the law on weapons, explosives, supporting tools and fireworks in the province will tend to increase and become more complicated.
Especially those who take advantage of cyberspace, postal services, means of transport... to commit crimes, affecting security and order in the province.
The Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee requested the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Procuracy, the Court, the Police... to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement specific regulations on the management and use of weapons, explosives, support tools and fireworks according to their functions, tasks and authority.
Strengthening the dissemination and popularization of legal regulations, dangers and handling of violations related to weapons, explosives, supporting tools and fireworks, aiming at the goal of each locality, village, residential group, residential area, commune, ward, town... not allowing violations to occur. Especially violations related to the burning of firecrackers and fireworks during the Lunar New Year 2025.
Propose that the People's Procuracy and People's Courts at all levels coordinate with the Investigation Agencies at all levels to investigate, prosecute and try cases related to weapons, explosives, supporting tools and fireworks during the Lunar New Year 2025 according to shortened procedures; select typical cases to focus on investigating, prosecuting and bringing them to mobile trials to strongly promote the movement of the whole people to protect national security and deter criminals.
The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Market Management Department and Khanh Hoa Customs Department to strengthen patrols and control, coordinate effectively with relevant agencies, and resolutely implement solutions to prevent and strictly handle acts of smuggling, production, trading, transportation, storage, and illegal use of fireworks in the area.
Agencies, units and localities are responsible for proactively organizing inspections of the management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools that are equipped and used. Assign responsibility to the head. If they are lax in directing, do not resolutely prevent and handle, allowing complex crimes, security and order to occur and allowing the situation of setting off firecrackers and fireworks to occur during the Lunar New Year of At Ty in 2025, especially on New Year's Eve, they will be held responsible according to the provisions of law.
On the afternoon of January 9, information from Khanh Hoa General Hospital said that another 12-year-old student (residing in Vinh Phuong commune, Nha Trang city) was injured in the eye and is being treated at the hospital due to homemade firecrackers.
This is the sixth case recorded at the hospital of serious injuries after purchasing tools and materials to make fireworks online and following instructions on social media channels.
