On July 6, at the Military Command (CHQS) of An Giang province, the Chemical Corps in coordination with the Civil Defense Command of An Giang province organized training to improve skills and practices in responding to toxic chemical and radiation incidents for initial response forces and propaganda to raise awareness and skills in responding to toxic chemical, waste, radiation, and environmental incidents with inter-sectoral and inter-regional nature in 2026.
Colonel Nguyen Anh Tan, Deputy Head of the Political Department of the Chemical Corps, chaired the conference. Attending were representatives of the General Staff of Military Region 9, the Provincial Civil Defense Command, heads of the Provincial Military Command of An Giang, departments, branches, armed forces, Border Guards, Provincial Police, hospitals, businesses and more than 120 delegates participating in the training.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Colonel Nguyen Anh Tan emphasized that in the face of increasingly complex developments of the risks of hazardous chemical, biological, radioactive, nuclear, natural disaster and environmental pollution incidents, improving the capacity of initial response forces is of particular importance to minimize damage to people, property and the environment. The conference is an opportunity to propagate, raise awareness, and equip knowledge and professional skills, strengthen coordination between forces in preventing, responding and overcoming incidents.
Delegates were informed by experts from the Chemical Corps of many topics on CBRN agents; skills in responding to leaks, fires, spills and spread of industrial toxic chemicals; responding to radiation and nuclear incidents; detecting and collecting lost radioactive sources; responding to biological and epidemic incidents; guiding the use of reconnaissance and monitoring equipment, detecting toxic agents and introducing national-level environmental incident response capacity.
