Ho Chi Minh City directs inspection and strict handling of unreasonable price increases

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a document directing the implementation of price management and administration solutions in the remaining months of 2026 in the City.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requests departments, branches and commune-level People's Committees to proactively monitor supply and demand developments, prices of essential goods such as gasoline, construction materials, food, and foodstuffs to promptly propose appropriate management solutions, not to let the situation of shortage of goods and supply disruption cause sudden price increases occur.

At the same time, strengthen inspection of price declarations, strictly handle acts of unreasonable price increases or selling at prices not in accordance with declarations.

The Department of Finance closely monitors market price movements, proactively analyzes and forecasts to serve management work; effectively coordinates the implementation of the Market Stabilization Program and strengthens inspection and handling of price violations.

The Department of Industry and Trade focuses on regulating supply and demand, ensuring the supply of essential goods, especially food, foodstuffs, gasoline and raw materials for production; strengthening inspection and combating speculation, hoarding, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and publicizing the results of handling violations.

The Department of Health is required to monitor drug and medical equipment prices, ensuring full supply at reasonable prices. The Department of Food Safety strengthens inspections of food production and business establishments, and strictly handles violations of food safety.

The Department of Education and Training coordinates to implement price stabilization of goods serving the new school year opening season.

The Department of Construction strengthens inspection of transportation price listing, monitors the construction material market, ensures supply for key projects and strictly handles price manipulation acts.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment closely monitors the supply and prices of essential agricultural products; strengthens disease control, food safety and agricultural supplies.

The Department of Culture and Sports promotes propaganda, provides transparent information on price management, and strictly handles cases of spreading false information causing market instability.

Commune-level People's Committees strengthen inspection of spontaneous sales points, control the origin and quality of goods and strictly handle violations of prices in the area.
