On July 30, the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone General Service Center coordinated with the Department of Culture - Society and the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone Youth Union (An Giang) to organize the closing ceremony of the free swimming class for children in Phu Quoc special economic zone. Thereby, to summarize and evaluate the results of the course and record the results achieved in equipping children with swimming skills and water safety skills.
Free swimming classes are organized from the beginning of July 2026, for children from 7 to 15 years old. The program is organized and implemented by the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone General Service Center in coordination with the Culture - Society Department and the Special Economic Zone Youth Union according to the plan of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee with the companionship of sponsors. Throughout the course, children are equipped with knowledge of drowning prevention and control, water safety skills and practice basic swimming techniques.
The learning process is always monitored and supported by a team of coaches, the Organizing Committee and the companionship of parents. Thanks to that, most students have learned basic swimming after completing the course, creating peace of mind and excitement for families, and contributing to improving drowning prevention skills for children in the area.
Mr. Phan Trong Thuan, residing in Ben Tram Cua Duong neighborhood, shared: "Previously, my child was very afraid of water, did not know how to swim, thanks to this free swimming program, he participated in learning and now knows how to swim. The teachers are very enthusiastic in guiding and teaching. I find this program very practical.
Student Tran Nguyen Bao Ngoc shared: "Before, when I didn't know how to swim, every time I went into the water, I was very scared. After I participated in the swimming class, now I know how to swim and I'm not as scared as before anymore. We also learned very useful drowning prevention skills.

The results of the final exam showed that the students performed basic swimming techniques well, many students swam proficiently, completing the goals of the program. Although the organization process had unfavorable weather at times, with the efforts of the Organizing Committee, the course was implemented according to plan and achieved positive results.
Ms. Le My Den, Deputy Director of the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone General Service Center, said: Through the swimming class, we want to impart skills and knowledge to children as well as skills to handle situations in the water environment so that they can protect themselves and support others. From there, it helps prevent drowning accidents for children in the special economic zone. The swimming class also received the attention and support of a large number of parents, and the serious participation of students in learning to achieve the best results.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee selected 10 students with outstanding achievements to participate in the swimming skills competition, thereby commending those who achieved excellent results throughout the course. At the same time, awarded 10 students, each student 5 free swimming slots at Nam Anh swimming pool to encourage them to continue training and improving swimming skills.
On this occasion, Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone People's Committee awarded certificates to students who are eligible to complete the course, recognizing their academic results and efforts after a month of participating in the program.
This is a practical activity, contributing to reducing the risk of drowning in children, while creating a useful, safe and healthy playground for children during the summer.
