On May 10, according to information from Dong Thap Provincial Police, Tan Long Commune Police received a report from people about a death suspected of using electric fishing equipment to catch fish in Tan Phu hamlet, Tan Long commune.
The victim was identified as Mr. P.C. D. (born in 2001, residing in Tan Phu hamlet, Tan Long commune). According to initial information, on the evening of May 8, Mr. D. brought electric fishing tools to catch fish but did not return home late at night. Relatives organized searches around canals and ditches near the house but without results.
At about 4 am on May 9, the family discovered Mr. D. dead in a ditch about 400m from the house, next to the body was an electric shock device used for fishing. The incident was quickly reported to the local police agency.
After receiving the report, Tan Long Commune Police coordinated with professional departments of Dong Thap Provincial Police to conduct scene examination, autopsy and verify the cause of the incident for handling according to regulations.
The police agency recommends that people not use electric shocks or electric shocks to catch seafood because this is an act strictly prohibited by law, posing a risk of causing fatal accidents and destroying aquatic resources.
