10 years in the automotive industry and valuable lessons about customers

In his role as Business Director at VATC, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tai presents a realistic perspective on the Vietnamese car service market through lessons about customers.

In more than 10 years of development, VATC has trained more than 7,000 students for the automotive industry. Many people are currently technicians, workshop managers, service consultants or garage owners in many provinces and cities. Through the process of accompanying them, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tai realized that the Vietnamese automotive repair industry is not lacking skilled workers. Technical skills are increasingly improved thanks to the development of technology and market demand.

However, what worries him the most comes from customers. Through many conversations with car owners, he realizes that their biggest worry is not whether the garage can repair the car or not, but whether the car is having problems, what needs to be repaired, and whether the advised items are really necessary or not.

Many people always feel worried when putting their car into the garage because they are afraid of incurring costs or do not understand what is being done on their car.

According to him, this is a gap that the car service market needs to address. Customers do not have enough expertise to assess the quality of repairs, but they can clearly feel the transparency. When they are clearly explained about the car's condition, quoted prices in advance and participate in the decision-making process, they will feel much more secure.

Trust does not come from commitments but from processes and service. He believes that the future of the automotive service industry will no longer be a simple competition for skills or scale, but the ability to build trust with customers.

From that thought, VAST SERVICE was formed. The team does not build another simple garage but aims for a service environment where customers understand what their car is doing, why it needs to be done and what items they have to pay for.

If there is one thing that more than 10 years of working in the automotive training ecosystem helps you understand clearly, it is that customers not only need skilled workers. What they really need is peace of mind. And peace of mind always starts from trust.
