Closing the group stage, the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship has determined the 4 best teams to participate in the semi-finals.
Accordingly, in Group A, U23 Indonesia continued as the group leader with 7 points (2 wins, 1 draw). Meanwhile, U23 Philippines qualified for the semi-finals as the second-placed team with the best record (6 points).
In addition, two other teams entered the knockout round, U23 Vietnam (first in Group B) and U23 Thailand (first in Group C).
According to the organizing committee's division, the first semi-final will be a match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines.
Compared to Indonesia or Thailand, U23 Philippines is considered an " easier" opponent for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team. This is also the first time the Philippines has passed the group stage in an U23 tournament in Southeast Asia.
The remaining semi-final match is the clash between U23 Thailand and U23 Indonesia. The challenge for these two teams is huge, especially when they both have quality squads and are also a strong candidate for the championship this season.
