The 2026 Asian Women's Volleyball Championship will take place in Tianjin (China) from August 21 to 30, with the participation of 12 teams. The tournament champion will win a direct spot to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the top 3 teams will win the right to participate in the 2027 World Championship.
According to the draw results, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team is in Group C with Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong (China). In which, Japan is the most highly rated opponent in the group, while South Korea and Vietnam will compete directly for second place in the group.
The group stage schedule of the Vietnamese team includes matches against South Korea on August 22, Hong Kong (China) on August 24 and Japan on August 25. The top two teams in each group and the two third-placed teams with the best results will win the right to enter the quarterfinals.
The Korean national team is a familiar opponent to Vietnam. In the semi-finals of the AVC Women's Cup 2026, this team once defeated Vietnam 3-0. The rematch at the Asian tournament is an opportunity for Thanh Thuy and her teammates to test their abilities. In addition, Vietnam's goal is to surpass the fourth place achievement in 2023.
