On the morning of August 23, at Hanoi Children's Palace, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a launching ceremony for all people to participate in environmental protection for a bright - green - clean - beautiful Vietnam. The event was attended by Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, representatives of ministries, departments, branches, international organizations and more than 1,000 people, union members, and youth of the capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Acting Minister Tran Duc Thang emphasized that this is not only a great political and social activity but also an opportunity for each citizen to demonstrate their sense of responsibility and love for their homeland through specific and practical actions.
Every Vietnamese person, regardless of age or occupation, can become a green soldier on the front of environmental protection. When the entire people are united, every small action will resonate into great strength, said Acting Minister Tran Duc Thang.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment calls on all people, agencies and units across the country to simultaneously launch a general cleaning campaign every Saturday morning, starting today as a meaningful activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
Acting Minister Tran Duc Thang also expressed his confidence and assigned specific tasks to socio-political organizations. The Fatherland Front is likened to a conductor that arouses the spirit of solidarity; youth turn enthusiasm into a green youth project; women build green homes; veterans are shining examples; farmers take the lead in clean production and workers and laborers build each factory into a green fortress.
Responding to the call, Ms. Bui Huyen Mai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi, affirmed that she will closely coordinate to turn the movement into a regular and sustainable action. At the same time, Ms. Mai recognized the challenges of the capital in terms of waste and pollution and called on each citizen to start from the smallest things such as dumping garbage in the right place, limiting plastic bags, and planting more trees.
Immediately after the launching ceremony, all delegates along with thousands of union members, youth and people participated in practical activities such as garbage collection, landscape sanitation, and tree planting in the Hanoi Children's Palace area. At the same time, in Cau Giay, Nghia Do, Yen Hoa wards and many other residential areas, general cleaning activities also took place simultaneously, demonstrating the companionship and high determination of the people of the capital.
