Recreating the domestic violence case at a mock trial in Ho Chi Minh City

Ho Chi Minh City - On July 21, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Binh Thanh ward organized a simulated trial program against domestic violence.

Simulated trial brings the law closer to the people

On July 21, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Binh Thanh ward organized a simulated court session program to propagate laws on preventing and combating domestic violence. The program also combined free legal advice, attracting a large number of people in the area to participate.

Through theatrical form, recreating a case based on real-life situations, the program helps people better understand the provisions of the law, the legal consequences of domestic violence. At the same time, raising awareness of responsibility in building a prosperous, progressive, happy and civilized family.

Attending the program, Ms. Bui My Le (Binh Thanh ward) said that through the content of the mock trial, she herself understood more clearly the provisions of the Law on Marriage and Family, especially the regulations on gender equality and domestic violence prevention and control.

With free legal advice activities, Ms. Le shared that her legal problems in life have been answered wholeheartedly by lawyers, and at the same time guided on appropriate handling plans.

This is a practical activity, helping people feel more secure when encountering legal issues" - Ms. Le said.

Promoting the effectiveness of legal propaganda at the grassroots level

Ms. Hoang Mai Quynh Hoa - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Thanh Ward said that the content of the mock trial was built on some real situations that occurred in the area. In fact, there are still some cases where people do not fully understand the provisions of the law, especially cases related to domestic violence or conflicts arising after using alcohol and beer.

Before organizing, the organizing committee conducted a field survey in the residential area to select suitable content, ensuring that people can easily access and absorb it.

According to Ms. Hoa, since the 2-level local government model went into operation, the ward has promoted propaganda, dissemination of legal education and free legal aid for people. This mock trial is the second time it has been held in the area and initially brought positive effects when cases of law violations as well as conflicts arising in residential areas tend to decrease.
