On July 20, the Vietnamese team departed for Chonburi (Thailand) to prepare for their first match at ASEAN Cup 2026, officially starting their journey to defend the regional championship.
Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team moved on a flight departing at 12:45 pm from Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), expected to land in Bangkok at 14:45 pm (local time). After that, the whole team continued to travel by bus to Chonburi - the venue for the opening match with the Timor-Leste team.
In the past time, the Vietnamese team has had a process of preparing for ASEAN Cup 2026 with gatherings and training sessions to improve the force and playing style before entering the tournament.
As the defending champion, the Vietnamese team aims to have a favorable start in the group stage of the ASEAN Cup 2026. The match against Timor-Leste is seen as an opportunity for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team to create psychological momentum before the next challenges on the journey to defend the Southeast Asian crown.
