On June 29, the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Quang Ninh province, term 2026 - 2031, took place.
Attending the congress were Mr. Quan Minh Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Quang Ninh province; Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao - President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
In the 2021 - 2026 term, the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society continues to affirm its core role in humanitarian and social security work.
Movements such as "Tet of Compassion", "Humanity Month", voluntary blood donation, and assistance to vulnerable groups are being widely implemented.
During the term, the total operating value of the Association reached over 314 billion VND, assisting more than 1.6 million people. Of which, social and humanitarian work reached over 246 billion VND; disaster prevention and response reached over 28 billion VND; people's health care reached nearly 23 billion VND.
The voluntary blood donation movement mobilized and received 113,461 units of blood, worth over 17.9 billion VND.
Entering the 2026 - 2031 term, with the spirit of "Solidarity - Compassion - Innovation - Sustainable Development", the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society determines to continue building a streamlined and effective association organization, suitable to the two-level local government model.
Association levels will innovate the content and methods of operation; strengthen the connection of social resources; apply information technology and digital transformation in association activities.
Speaking at the congress, Ms. Do Thi Thu Thao acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved by the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society in the past term.
The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society requested the Society to continue to promote its core role in humanitarian activities; proactively advise on social security policies for vulnerable groups; promote digital transformation, modernize humanitarian governance work; strengthen connectivity and coordinate social resources.
Speaking to direct at the congress, Mr. Quan Minh Cuong praised the results of the Red Cross Society of Quang Ninh province at all levels.
Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary emphasized that the province is entering a new stage of development with the goal of becoming a centrally-run city. In that process, human development, ensuring social security and building a compassionate community need to become the foundation for sustainable development.
According to Mr. Quan Minh Cuong, the fact that the Association is assigned additional functions and tasks after organizational arrangement is an opportunity to build a more comprehensive and professional operating model; making the Association a center for connecting and coordinating humanitarian resources, a bridge between organizations, businesses, philanthropists and people in difficult circumstances.
Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary requested the association's activities to strongly shift towards sustainable development, combining emergency relief with livelihood support, health care and improving community resilience to natural disasters, epidemics, and climate change.
The Congress honored Mr. Quan Minh Cuong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Delegation of National Assembly Deputies of Quang Ninh province as Honorary Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial Red Cross Society for the term 2026 - 2031; elected 41 people to the Executive Committee, 11 people to the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society of Quang Ninh province in the XIV term. Mr. Ly Van Thanh was re-elected as Chairman of the XIV term.
