Storm No. 4 gusts at level 11, 120km from Quang Ninh-Hai Phong, continues to cause heavy rain

This morning, August 24th, storm No. 4 still maintains intensity level 9, gusts level 11. The storm will continue to cause heavy rain in the Northeast, southern Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An provinces.

Updated bulletin issued at 8:00 AM on August 24 from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, in the past 3-6 hours, storm No. 4 moved little.

At 7:00 AM on August 24, the storm center was located at about 20.5 degrees North latitude - 107.7 degrees East longitude, in the sea area north of Bach Long Vi special zone, about 120km east-southeast of Quang Ninh, about 120km east of Hai Phong. The strongest wind near the storm center was level 9 (75-88 km/h), gusting to level 11.

Forecast for the next 24 hours, the storm will move in a South-Southeast direction after changing direction to East-Northeast, speed 3-5 km/h.

By 7:00 AM on August 25, the storm's center will be located at about 20.0 degrees North latitude - 108.6 degrees East longitude; over the eastern Gulf of Tonkin, about 110km east of Bach Long Vi special zone. Wind intensity is strong at level 9, gusting at level 11.

Forecast for the next 48 hours, the storm will move in a Northeast direction, at a speed of about 5 km/h and gradually weaken.

By 7:00 AM on August 26, the storm's center will be located at about 21.3 degrees North latitude - 109.6 degrees East longitude; in the northeastern sea area of the Northern Gulf of Tonkin, about 245km northeast of Bach Long Vi special zone. Wind intensity is strong at level 8, gusting at level 10.

Forecast for the next 72 hours, the storm will move in a North-Northwest direction, at a speed of 5-10 km/h and weaken into a tropical depression.

By 7:00 AM on August 27, the center of the tropical depression will be located at about 22.7 degrees North latitude - 109.4 degrees East longitude; on land south of Guangxi province (China). Wind intensity is strong at level 6, gusting at level 8.

From 72 to 96 hours later, the tropical depression is likely to move in a Northwest direction, moving 5-10km per hour and gradually weakening into a low pressure area on land in the southern province of Guangxi (China).

Regarding the impact of the storm at sea, the Gulf of Tonkin area (including special zones: Bach Long Vi, Van Don, Co To, Cat Hai; Hon Dau island), coastal sea areas of Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, Hung Yen provinces have strong winds at level 6-7, sea waves 2-3m high; the area near the storm center passing through strong at level 8-9, gusts at level 10-11; sea waves 3-5m high; very rough seas.

The coastal land of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Hung Yen provinces has strong winds of level 6, gusts of level 8. Strong winds can blow off houses, damage temporary structures, break down green trees and billboards; affecting electricity and traffic systems.

Regarding heavy rain, the Northeast region, the south of Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An provinces on August 24th will have common rainfall of 20-40mm, locally over 70mm; especially Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An commonly 40-100mm, locally over 200mm.

From the night of August 24 to the morning of August 25, coastal and delta areas of the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are commonly 20-50mm, locally over 100mm. From the afternoon of August 25, rain tends to gradually decrease. Heavy rain may cause flooding in urban areas, industrial parks and low-lying areas; increasing the risk of floods on small rivers and streams, flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

Due to the impact of storm circulation, it is necessary to prevent the risk of thunderstorms, tornadoes and strong gusts of wind.
