In the Northern region, Thanh Hoa and the Central Highlands, during the day and night of August 30, there is forecast to be moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain. Rainfall is from 20 - 40mm, some places over 100mm. In the Central Highlands, the rain will be concentrated in the evening and at night.
In Nghe An, South Central and Southern regions, in the evening and night of August 30, there is forecast to be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10 - 30mm, locally over 70mm.
The Meteorological Agency warns that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flooding in low-lying areas; flash floods in small rivers and streams; and landslides on steep slopes.
Regarding sea weather , Phu Quy island and the western sea area of the South China Sea have strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8.
During the day and night of August 30, the area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau and the South East Sea (including the waters of Truong Sa archipelago) is forecast to have strong winds of level 6, gusting to level 7-8; rough seas.
In addition, during the day and night of August 30, the area between the East Sea and the South East Sea (including the waters of the Truong Sa archipelago), the waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau, Ca Mau to Kien Giang and the Gulf of Thailand will have showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 7-8, beware of wave heights sometimes increasing to over 2m.
During the day and night of August 31, the sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau and the western sea area of the South China Sea (including the western sea area of Truong Sa archipelago) is forecast to have strong southwest winds of level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas; waves from 1.5 - 2.5m high.
All vessels operating in the above areas are at high risk of being affected by cyclones, strong winds and large waves.
