During this period, cold air continues to affect our country's weather. It is likely to be stronger than the average of many years in the second half of the forecast period and cause many days of severe cold.
Cold air is likely to cause strong winds and large waves, affecting the activities of ships. On land, severe cold in the northern provinces, with the risk of frost and ice, will greatly affect livestock, crops and people's health, especially in the northern mountainous areas.
Fog can affect visibility, increasing the risk of collisions in traffic activities.
Previously, in January 2025, there were 3 cold spells on January 9, January 14 and January 26. Notably, the cold spell from January 26 to now has caused widespread cold in the Northern and North Central regions, with snowfall in some places in Ha Giang and Lao Cai.
Total rainfall across the country is generally approximately the same as the average of many years in the same period, except for the Central Central region where rainfall is 10 - 20mm higher than the average of many years in the same period.
During February, the Central region is likely to experience some scattered showers and thunderstorms. Nationwide, dangerous weather phenomena such as fog, thunderstorms, lightning, frost and frost may continue to appear, which may affect production and people's activities.
Previously, in January 2025, the Northern region had little rain. The Central region in the past period had 3 widespread rains occurring mainly in the provinces of Ha Tinh - Binh Dinh, Phu Yen on January 9-11, January 15-17 and January 26-29.
The Central Highlands and the South also had a period of rain on January 14-15, including moderate and heavy rain in some places.
