The People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has just issued a directive on key tasks and main solutions to direct and implement the 2025 socio-economic development plan.
In particular, Bac Ninh province aims to continue to be among the leading localities in the country in attracting investment; implementing at least 2 international-class smart, modern urban area projects.
At the same time, complete the dossier to submit to the Ministry of Construction to recognize Yen Phong and Tien Du urban areas as type III urban areas; complete the project to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee to issue a Resolution to establish Yen Phong and Tien Du cities under Bac Ninh province.
According to the investigation of Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, recently, Vingroup Corporation proposed to invest in the Northwest New Urban Area project (Bac Ninh City), with a total investment capital of more than 44,500 billion VND.
The above project has received full appraisal opinions from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and relevant agencies of Bac Ninh province. The Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province has assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to preside over reviewing, synthesizing, completing the dossier, and submitting it to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and approval in accordance with regulations.
Sun Group also proposed investing in two urban area projects in Tu Son City and Tien Du District with investment capital of VND11,091 billion and VND17,180 billion, respectively.
In September 2024, Phu My Hung's member company was also approved by the province to invest in a VND27,000 billion urban area in Thuan Thanh town.
Bac Ninh is the smallest province in the country but its economic scale (GRDP) ranks 9th - according to the General Statistics Office, in which many socio-economic indicators are in the top.
This locality has the advantage of being located in the key economic triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh and is the northeastern gateway of the capital.
Bac Ninh aims to become a centrally-governed city by the end of 2026.
