According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, today (June 13), the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have showers and localized thunderstorms.
The mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region from the evening of June 14 to June 15 are forecast to have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 30 - 70mm, locally very heavy rain over 120mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours.
From the night of June 15 to the night of June 16, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40 - 80mm, locally very heavy rain over 130mm.
The Northern Delta region in the late afternoon and night of June 14, is forecast to have showers and scattered thunderstorms with rainfall of 20 - 40mm, locally heavy rain over 80mm. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
The meteorological agency warns that the level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, and hail is level 1.
Heavy rain is likely to cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban and industrial areas; flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes.
Previously, in the period from May 11 - June 10, 2026, in the Northern region, there were 4 rain spells on May 11 - 12, May 16 - 22, May 28 - 30, and from June 4 - 10. Notably, on May 16 - 22, there were moderate rain and widespread heavy rain from May 19 - 21, with very heavy rain in some places.
Regarding the rain trend, the total rainfall in the coming month in the Northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Nghe An is generally higher than the multi-year average by 10 - 25%; other places are generally lower than the multi-year average of the same period by 5 - 20%.
