Pre-match information
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team passed the AVC Cup 2026 group stage with second place in Group B. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team successively won against Lebanon, Hong Kong (China), Indonesia, Iran, before losing narrowly 2-3 to Kazakhstan in the last match.
Although they could not win the top spot, Thanh Thuy and her teammates still showed remarkable competitiveness and fighting spirit.
In the AVC Cup semi-finals, the Vietnamese women's team will face the top team of Group A, the South Korean women's team. This is also the most difficult challenge for the defending champion since the beginning of the tournament.
South Korea possesses a balanced force, a good technical foundation and a tightly organized playing style. Although no longer maintaining the dominant position as before, the Korean team is still considered a strong candidate at this year's AVC Cup.
Therefore, this confrontation is considered an important test for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. Against an opponent with experience and high professional quality, Thanh Thuy and her teammates need to maintain stability in the first step, organize effective attacks and take advantage of scoring opportunities well.
Pillars such as Thanh Thuy, Bich Thuy or Kim Thoa, Nhu Anh are expected to continue to create a difference, helping the Vietnamese team aim to win a ticket to the final.
