According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, currently, the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions are experiencing scattered showers and thunderstorms.
In the late afternoon and evening of May 27, it is forecasted that the Central Highlands and the South, Binh Dinh to Binh Thuan will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy rain. Rainfall is generally from 15 - 30mm, locally over 60mm.
From the afternoon of May 28 to May 29, rain in these areas tends to increase. The Central Highlands and the South will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, locally over 100mm.
The meteorological agency warns of the risk of local heavy rain (rainfall greater than 100mm within 3 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Regarding the high tide situation, currently, in the eastern coast of the South, the tide level is at a high level. The highest water level observed at Vung Tau station was 3.88m at 2:00 a.m. on May 27.
From the evening of May 27 to May 28, coastal provinces from Vung Tau to Ca Mau will have high water heights (Vung Tau station) of about 3.9 - 4.05m.
The time of strong water is about 2 - 6 hours and 10 - 12 hours a day.
Warning in the next 24 to 48 hours, the water level in the coastal area of the Southeast will continue to be high. The highest water level at Vung Tau station is forecast to be about 4 - 4.05m.
The meteorological agency warns that low-lying areas in coastal areas, riverbanks, and areas outside the dykes in the Southeast are likely to be flooded in the early morning and evening. There is a high risk of increased saline intrusion on rivers in this area.
