"The sides emphasized the importance of ensuring security for both offshore and onshore sections of the Blue Stream and TurkStream pipelines on the territory of both countries," TASS quoted the minutes of the 19th meeting of the Russia- Turkey Intergovernmental Committee on trade and economic cooperation.
In 2024, Russia increased pipeline gas supplies to Turkey by 2.6%, reaching more than 21 billion cubic meters. Russia supplies gas to Turkey via two black Sea gas pipelines, Blue Stream and TurkStream.
The TurkStream pipeline, which stretches from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea, has a capacity of 31.5 billion cubic meters and is designed to supply gas to both Turkey and southern and southeastern European countries.
So far, TurkStream is the last remaining gas pipeline serving Russian gas exports to Europe after Ukraine stopped transiting Russian gas in early 2025. The TurkStream pipeline starts at the Russkaya gas compresssion plant, built near Anapa, Russia.
Also according to TASS, in the minutes of the meeting, Russia and Turkey expressed their interest in extending the contract for gas supply and export under terms that are beneficial to both sides.
"The parties emphasized the interest in extending the gas supply and export contract between Botas and Gazprom Export under terms beneficial to both companies," the document stated.

The sides also highlighted the importance of developing cooperation in the field of underground gas storage to increase reliability and strengthen the security of gas supply sources in the region.
Russia and Turkey highly appreciate the efforts of Botas and Gazprom Export in finding a solution that would reach consensus between both sides, ensuring uninterrupted gas payments.
In addition, Russia and Turkey agreed to promote joint oil projects, including in third countries, according to the minutes of the 19th meeting of the Russia- Turkey Intergovernmental Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation. The sides also mentioned the stability of Russian oil supplies to Turkey.
